Harry G. Barnes Jr.
 

Harry G. Barnes Jr. is currently chairman of the board of the Romanian- American Enterprise Foundation, and is a Senior Advisor to the Asia Society. He serves on the boards of the Project on Ethnic Relations, the Center for International Environmental Law, and the Institute for Sustainable Development. He is also a member of the advisory committee to Human Rights Watch Asia. A former career foreign service officer, he served in Prague and Moscow plus Bombay and Kathmandu. He was U.S. Ambassador to Romania (1974-77), India (1981-85) and Chile (1985-88). From 1994 to 2000, he was Director of the Carter Center's programs on conflict resolution and human rights.
