Vladimer Papava
 
Dr. Papava is a Senior Fellow at the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies. He is author of more than 200 works devoted to the problems of economic theory, macroeconomics, and economic/mathematical modeling, most notably, his study of economic transformation in post-Communist countries. His research is complemented by a unique practical experience. In 1994-2000, serving as Minister of Economy of the Republic of Georgia, he was actively involved in a fiscal reform, complete liberalization of the wheat market, institutional reforms, etc. As a member of the Georgian government, he was one of the leading participants in negotiations with the IMF and World Bank.

He is a Senior Associate Fellow of the Joint Center formed by the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute (Johns Hopkins University-SAIS) and the Silk Road Studies Program (Uppsala University), a Member of the Parliament of Georgia and a member of the Georgian Academy of Sciences.
